[ARCHIVED] Zionsville residents invited to submit nominations for Z’Tree of the Year

Z Tree of the Year

Did you get married under the shade of a large oak tree? Grow up watching the leaves change on a maple tree in your front yard? Plant a tree in memory of a loved one? Residents are invited to submit their favorite tree in Zionsville for the Z’Tree of the Year, a contest brought to you by the People of Zionsville for the Aesthetics of Zionsville (PZAZ).

The Z'Tree of the Year Contest is a celebration of the Town of Zionsville's Tree City designation. For 20 years in a row, the Town of Zionsville has been named a Tree City by the National Arbor Day Foundation in recognition of its ongoing community forestry program. The contest highlights the significance of trees in our natural spaces and the ecological and economic benefits to the community that trees provide.

“This new contest is an opportunity to recognize a special tree that enhances the value and beauty of our community,” PZAZ Chairperson Greta Sanderson said. “I encourage Zionsville residents to enter their favorite tree and share its story.

Now through June 1, 2022, residents are invited to submit a photo of their favorite tree. Bonus points will be given if there is a unique story behind the tree. The tree can be on private or public property but must be located within the town limits of Zionsville.

PZAZ will select the winning tree. The winner will be honored with a framed photo inside Town Hall and a $100 gift card to the Little House at Earth and Turf.

Residents can submit their entry, including a photo of the tree, online here.
