[ARCHIVED] Zionsville Police Department welcomes K-9 Sky

Officer Smitha nd K9 Sky (2)

The Zionsville Police Department has a new four-legged member, K-9 Sky. Sky is a two-year-old female Dutch Shepard.

Sky trained at Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, Indiana and is proficient in drug detection, tracking and apprehension. Her handler is Officer Cameron Smith.

Officer Smith and Sky will complete a six-week training course on April 15, and she will then begin working on patrol. The department currently has one other K-9, Mika.

“Sky is social with a strong drive and desire to work,” Captain Marius Klykken said. “She will be a great addition to our department.”

The purchase of K-9 Sky was funded by the generous donations of many throughout the community after the tragic and unexpected passing of K-9 Thor. The Zionsville Police Department appreciates the assistance and support received following Thor’s passing.
