The Town has a busy fall lineup as momentum grows with key projects currently underway. Interest in building in Creekside Corporate Park is at an all-time high – we hope to have more details to share in the near future. We recently published the Zionsville Gateway Area (ZGA) final draft study and new website. The ZGA plan is an authentic Zionsville approach to bring together a menu of options for downtown: greenspace, trails, parking, commercial, residential and mixed-use development. It will be transformative for Zionsville and Central Indiana for generations to come. I encourage you to take some time and view the final draft study.
What else you need to know this month:
- Town Council and the Parks Board have approved funding for the Carpenter Nature Preserve master planning process. Planning for the future of the Carpenter Nature Preserve (formerly Wolf Run Golf Club) has been a goal of mine since the summer of 2020 when I toured the property, contacted Nancy and Jim Carpenter and together thought of a new vision for this land. From here the Town will work with the Carpenters, develop a steering committee and conceptualize the 215 nature preserve and adjoining nature center. As the process progresses I look forward to the community being involved to share input on the final design.
- We currently have a vacancy for the town court administrator position. This is a great opportunity for someone seeking a part-time position. Speaking of positions, we are also hiring for roles in the Community & Economic Development Department, Finance & Records Department and Parks Department.
- The Parks Department is busy planning for Winterfest and Zionsville’s first outdoor ice skating rink at Mulberry Fields Park. Stay tuned for more information about this exciting winter event.
As we prepare to reflect upon the 20th anniversary of September 11th, let’s remember the collective national unity we embodied in the aftermath of the tragedy. Be kind and stay well.
