The Zionsville Fire Department welcomes Ryan Flora as fire inspector/investigator. Ryan has been with ZFD for just over a year working in a part-time capacity as fire inspector and will now be joining the department full-time.

Ryan has been in the fire service for over 29 years. He started out as a volunteer firefighter in 1992 at Indian Heights Volunteer Fire Department. He previously served the City of Fishers Fire Department as a chauffeur (engineer), EMT, SCBA technician, safety and health board member, pension board member and technical rescue team member.      

Ryan has an associate degree in Public Safety Management from Ivy Tech and a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University. He has been involved with part-time code enforcement since 2008 with Noblesville and/or Fishers Fire Departments. 

Ryan holds numerous certifications including International Code Council Fire Inspector 1, Certified Healthcare Safety Professional, Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional, a long list of state certifications and has attended the National Fire Academy three times.

“We are excited to have such an experienced public safety professional join our team. Ryan’s energy will undoubtedly help expand our fire prevention activities within our ever-growing community,” said Fire Chief James VanGorder.
