Like the rest of Indiana, Boone County continues to see higher numbers than ever before - even at the start of the pandemic. The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Indiana is at an all-time high. In Indiana, we are averaging more than 210 new COVID-19 patients a day in our hospitals. Hospitals and health care providers are experiencing staff shortages and going on diversion. Locally, the number of patients being treated for COVID-19 at Witham Hospital is growing and hospital staffing is being depleted due to being in quarantine and contracting the virus. We are all feeling COVID fatigue, but we cannot let our guard down. Health officials advise rethinking plans for Thanksgiving and holiday gatherings and having these tough conversations with family and friends. This is a strong reminder that COVID-19 is among us and spreading and we need to protect each other.
In Zionsville, we continue to remain committed to keeping everyone safe and to slow the spread. We’re counting on you. We need you to do your part.
- Be smart in your travels and in-home family gatherings
- Seek testing if you are symptomatic or believe you have been exposed
- Wear a mask
- Increase sanitization
- Maintain 6’ distance
This holiday season, I’m thankful for our community, our resilience and our ability to come together during tough times.
Spread kindness, not COVID.
