[ARCHIVED] Zionsville Parks Board launches Overley-Worman Park website and virtual open house

The Zionsville Board of Park and Recreation has launched a new website designed to share the progress and plans of the future Overley-Worman Park.

This website is organized around a combination of videos, graphics, text and questions that describe the project background, the project plan and the planned schedule for construction.

Overley-Worman Park, to be constructed in 2021, will be located on land adjacent to Eagle Creek across from Starkey Nature Park and behind the new Vonterra subdivision off Zionsville Road. The park will also be connected to the Big-4 Rail Trail.

In the spring of 2017, the Town of Zionsville, through the Zionsville Board of Park and Recreation, completed the master plan process for Overley-Worman Park. The master plan process included an intensive three-day workshop. In addition, over the past three years, hundreds of citizens, Town officials, engineers and other stakeholders participated in open design workshops. Through these design meetings, it was determined that when complete, Overley-Worman Park will feature mountain bike trails, paved and natural walking trails, fishing pier and boardwalk, playground, parking, disc golf and more.

Now, the Zionsville Board of Park and Recreation invites the public to participate in a virtual open house through the new website. Users can also submit comments or questions via a comment form.

“I am excited for the public to further participate in the public input process for Overley-Worman Park,” said Mayor Emily Styron. “Putting resources into our parks system and preserving green space is a priority that is widely held by myself and the community. Parks and trails are vital to our town’s sense of place, attracting new residents and businesses and creating a cohesive bond around wellness, recreation and finding peace in nature.

“Lots of hard work by Town and parks staff, keen public support and the generosity of the Overley-Worman family and Vonterra developers have brought us to this point,” said Parks Board President Tim Casady. “We hope you enjoy reviewing the final plans for Overley-Worman Park and we look forward to your feedback.”
