On Thursday evenings this summer from 5 – 9 p.m., residents can sit at one of the many tables set up on Main Street, order from local restaurants and remain socially distanced while enjoying dinner on the Brick Street. During this event, residents can also visit the retailers lining the Brick Street – a perfect night on the town.
Thanks to efforts from the Zionsville Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Town of Zionsville, Night on The Bricks launches Thursday, June 4. This event will continue for nine weeks through July 30.
Tables will be pre-set on Main Street, but attendees must bring their own chairs.
A few tips:
- Space is limited: tables are first-come, first-serve.
- Bring your own hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes.
- Use the public restrooms and handwashing stations instead of those inside the restaurants.
- Plan ahead and order carryout from restaurants in advance.
- When possible, walk or bike to Main Street as parking will be limited.
“The idea of this event is to provide a bright spot during a challenging time for local restaurants,” said Mayor Emily Styron. “This is a chance for the community to come together socially, let our restaurants spill onto the Brick Street and support our local restaurants and retailers.”
“We have worked with many groups to ensure that this will be a fun and socially distanced event,” said Zionsville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Allyson Gutwein. “We are working cooperatively to help our retailers and restaurants drive increased traffic to their doors by providing street dining. This is a work in progress and we hope that providing this dining option we can help our restaurant and retail community through this difficult year.”
“This is Zionsville at its best – we are piloting an idea that brings our residents and businesses together in a responsible way,” said Zionsville Town Councilor Joe Culp. “I’m very excited for the inaugural event and to continue working with businesses, residents and government to ensure we make the most of these strange times.”
During Night on The Bricks, Main Street from Pine to Cedar will be closed to through traffic. Cross streets east and west will be open to traffic.
