UPDATE - 5/4/2020
Due to the extremely high volume of heavy trash items this year, Ray’s Trash Service must limit their collections at each household. However, the Town of Zionsville Street & Stormwater Department will be assisting Ray’s Trash Service by picking up any remaining items at each home. Given the unprecedented volume encountered after just one day, there may be a delay between when Ray’s Trash picks up their portion and when the Town of Zionsville picks up the remaining items. Collection will continue through the end of this week and could go into next week as well in order to catch up with the heavy volume. Residents are asked to be patient and allow both Ray’s Trash Service and Zionsville Street Department staff ample time to complete this effort, even if it means some heavy trash items remain curbside for a few days.
Residents must continue to place all heavy trash items out on their regular trash collection day.
The Town of Zionsville will be providing the annual Heavy Trash Collection for residents in the urban service district the week of May 4, 2020 on your regular trash collection day. Refrigerant-bearing appliances and tires will be collected by town staff, and Ray’s Trash Service will collect and dispose of all other items, including TVs and computers. Residents placing refrigerant-bearing appliances and tires curbside should contact the Zionsville Street and Stormwater Department with a description and address for pick-up. Items must be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on your regular trash collection day in order to guarantee collection.
This service provides Zionsville residents in the urban service district a means to dispose of objects and materials not normally accepted by weekly trash service.
*Freon containing appliances do not require removal of Freon prior to pick-up. Appliances will be transported to a recovery site to ensure proper disposal of Freon and other refrigerants.
**Gas and oil reservoirs in lawn and any other equipment must be empty for pick-up. Individual gasoline cans/tanks are considered unacceptable materials for pick-up.
Ray’s Trash Service will pick up all heavy trash items other than refrigerant-bearing appliances and used tires, which will be collected by town staff. Although this is a free service, it is requested that anyone disposing of these items contact the Zionsville Street and Stormwater Department to notify us of the item.
UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Antifreeze, oil, gasoline, gasoline cans/tanks, propane tanks, batteries, paint, paint thinners, flammable or toxic liquids, medical waste, construction and demolition debris, any type of fencing, concrete, bricks, sod, soil, trees, tree trunks or stumps.
