The public areas of the Town of Zionsville are for the enjoyment of residents, visitors and their pets. With warmer weather upon us, our streets, sidewalks, pathways and parks are getting busier. The Town reminds dog owners of Town ordinance 99.02 that all animals in the urban district must be under reasonable control. In the case of dogs, the Town’s ordinance specifically defines this as no more than a six-foot leash being held by the person with the dog.
If your dog is off leash while in the urban district, this is a chargeable offense by Zionsville Police Department (ZPD). ZPD will be strictly enforcing this ordinance so that residents can enjoy their time in parks and on pathways.
In addition to leash laws, when visiting Zionsville’s parks and trails, bicycles are currently permitted on paved trails only and are not to be used in non-paved park trails such as those in Starkey Park and other locations.
