North-South Connector

Bids have been awarded and contract documents are being finalized. Preliminary construction activities are expected to begin in February 2020 and full construction is expected in spring 2020. The project is anticipated to take a full construction season.

Road closures anticipated:

Intersection of Whitestown Rd. and CR 875 E. from June 1 - Aug. 1, 2020

CR 875 E. between CR 550 S. and CR 575 S., dates TBD

CR 850 E. south of Oak St., dates TBD

Estimated completion: September 2020

Background: Design has begun on a new roadway segment that will connect the intersection of CR 850 E./Cooper Rd. with CR 875 E. to the north. The design includes a roundabout at the intersection of 850 E./Cooper Rd. and Oak St. as well as a roundabout at the intersection of CR 875 E. and Whitestown Rd. The project is also expected to include a 10-foot multi-use path.

CR 400 S. Reconstruction and Widening

This project is postponed to late summer 2020 to allow Boone County REMC to complete the relocation of utility poles. Due to their restrictions in scheduling power outages necessary to complete this work, they cannot begin until May 1, and require eight to 10 weeks to complete tasks. Road reconstruction cannot begin until all utility poles have been moved.

Road closures anticipated: Full road closure of CR 400 S. for approximately .5 miles west of CR 875 E. is expected, dates TBD.

Estimated completion: Fall 2020

Background: This project includes the widening, repair and resurfacing of CR 400 S. to the west of CR 875 E. for approximately .5 miles.

CR 500 S. Reconstruction and Widening

Design is ongoing. It is anticipated that the utilities will be relocated over the winter with road construction beginning in summer 2020.

Road closures anticipated: Full road closures are anticipated.

Estimated completion: Fall 2020

Background: This project improves and widens CR 500 S. from CR 875 E. approximately 0.4 miles to the west. This project will reconstruct a portion of the road and widen the existing width to 24 feet. This project is funded partially from private developer funds.

Ford Road and Bloor Lane Roundabout

Work is nearly complete on new landscape and hardscape elements within the center of the roundabout.

Background: This roundabout includes low masonry walls and upgraded plant materials. The tree at the center that was planted by a local Eagle Scout candidate will be preserved.

Irongate Drainage and Improvement Project

A pre-construction took place in February. Because this project includes a new storm sewer pipe crossing under Oak St., traffic control personnel will be utilized during this portion of the project in order to keep Oak St. open traffic. Local access for residents and businesses within the project area will be maintained, but short-term driveway closures will be necessary.

Road closures anticipated: No full-road closures are currently expected. The south lane of eastbound Oak St. will be closed during the construction between Irongate Dr. and the Walgreen’s entrance.

Estimated completion: TBD

Background: This project is intended to mitigate localized street flooding in the Irongate subdivision. The project involves the installation of a new storm sewer pipe along the south side of Oak St. from Irongate Dr. to just west of Ford Rd.

Estimated completion: TBD

Oak Street Sewer

The sewer will be located on the north side of Oak St. and will extend west of Cooper Rd. traveling east to just west of Irish Hill. This project went out for bid in January 2020. A preliminary schedule will be announced soon.
