[ARCHIVED] Parks Department purchases new utility vehicle for maintenance

Kubota Racks

The Parks & Recreation Department recently purchased a Kubota utility vehicle and equipped it with racks to assist staff with daily maintenance of trails.

The Kubota will perform a number of tasks: monitor the conditions of the parks, mobilize staff for fallen trees in remote locations and general trail maintenance.

Because of its small size, the vehicle can travel the Big-4 Rail Trail while trail users simultaneously walk or bike the path.

“This vehicle allows us flexibility to get where we need and the capability to work in harmony with the parks visitors,” said Parks Department Assistant Superintendent Dave Moliterno.

The Parks & Recreation Department also recently received a donation of a Polaris from the Zionsville Police Department to be used for lighter duties along trails and parks.
