The public areas of the Town of Zionsville are for the enjoyment of residents, visitors and their pets. With the warmer weather upon us, our streets, sidewalks, pathways and parks are all getting busier, and the Town wants to remind dog owners of Town ordinance (99.02) that all animals in the urban district must be under the reasonable control of their owner or the person exercising control of the animal when off that owner’s property. In the case of dogs, the Town’s ordinance specifically defines this as no more than a six-foot leash being held by the person with the dog.
If your dog is off leash while in the urban district, this is a chargeable offense by the Zionsville Police Department.
In addition to leash laws, when visiting Zionsville’s parks and trails, keep in mind bicycles are currently permitted on paved trails only and are not to be used in non-paved park trails such as those in Starkey Park and other such locations.
