The Zionsville Street & Stormwater Department has announced schedule changes to the Zionsville Road reconstruction project. The reconstruction project – which involves the widening of a one-mile section of Zionsville Road and adding a multi-use pathway along each side of the road – has changed to start in the spring of 2019.
There will be an upcoming short-term road closure and traffic restrictions on Zionsville Road to prepare for next spring’s construction.
Beginning on or after Aug. 6, 2018, Zionsville Road, from 106th Street to Technology Center Drive, will be closed to through-traffic to allow for clearing along the roadway. During this time, the road will be closed to through-traffic for approximately two weeks. Drivers will be redirected to the following detour: 96th Street to Michigan Road to 106th Street. All local access for residents and businesses within the project limits will be maintained.
Once the clearing is complete, utility relocation will occur, which should last approximately 60 – 90 days, approximately through November. There will be no road closures, though there may be restricted traffic and lane control under the direction of flaggers.
The changes in the Zionsville Road reconstruction schedule is a result of more time needed for utility relocation and property acquisition.
