Zionsville Police Department establish on-site safe exchange zone

IMG_3816

The Zionsville Police Department has created an “E-Commerce Exchange Zone” in the parking lot of ZPD headquarters and inside both the doorway entrance lobby and the police headquarters lobby. This is a space where people can meet and complete their online purchases and transactions.

The E-Commerce Exchange Zone features 24-hour video surveillance. Police hope residents who answer advertisements for online retailers such as eBay, Craigslist, Offer Up, Facebook Marketplace and others can finalize their business transactions in a safe place. Although police will not be monitoring the private transactions, the program is designed to provide a known, well-lit and secure location to conduct business.

This zone is available seven days a week. The ZPD doorway entrance lobby is open 24 hours/day and the main lobby is open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
