Saturday, October 7 - Tails on the Trails Group Dog Walk



  • When: 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
  • Where: Mulberry Fields, 9645 Whitestown Rd.
Here’s a chance for you and your dog to get out and stay active this fall. Registration for Tails on the Trails is free. Join us for weekly dog walks throughout the event, Sept. 1 – October 31.

Thursday, October 12 - Tails on the Trails Group Dog Walk 

  • 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Where: Big-4 Rail Trail South, 120 N 9th St. (Due to Town Hall Construction we will meet at the Zionsville Christian Church)

Tuesday, October 17 & Thursday, October 19 - Zion Nature Center OPEN

  • When: 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center

It’s fall break so we’ve extended our open hours. Come visit us!

Tuesday, October 17 - Fall Leaf Hike

  • When: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center

Join us as we explore the forest in fall and discover some of the trees and leaves in the park. What colors and shapes can we find?

Thursday, October 19 -  Fall Scavenger Hunt

  • When: 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center

Explore the forest in fall on this family friendly scavenger hunt. Turn in your card and collect your prize.

Friday, October 20 - Animal Adventures: Monarchs

  •  Registration is required via www.zionsvillelibrary.org
  • When: 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
  • Ages: 3 - 6 yeasr with an adult
  • Where: Hussey Mayfield Memorial Public Library and Zion Nature Center

Meet at the Library for story time fun. Afterwards, we will walk to the Zion Nature Center to the monarch butterfly, and explore its amazing migration.

Saturday, October 21 - Starkey Park Project

  • When: 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Where: Starkey Nature Park, 667 Sugarbush Drive

Observations are being collected with iNaturalist throughout 2017 to help Zionsville Parks and Recreation have a better understanding of the species and habitats that thrive within Starkey Park. Bring your smart phone or camera and join Park Naturalist Mindy Murdock as she explores the seasonal changes in the park.

Friday, October 27 - Halloween Dog Walk

  • When: 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center

Dress yourself and your pooch up for this fun group dog walk through the Zion Nature Sanctuary. (This is also the last group dog walk in the Tails on the Trails series.)  Then enjoy a tasty treat, for both dogs and people, after our hike through the woods. Dog treats provided by Three Dog Bakery.


Saturday, October 28 -  Halloween Hike

  • Register beginning October 1 via email 
  • When: 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Ages: 6 years & under with an adult
  • Where: Zion Nature Center

Join the Zion Nature Center for a fun, not-so-scary event for your little Trick-or-treater! We’ll explore the forest in fall as we collect treats along the way. Enjoy crafts, activities and opportunities to meet some of the nature center animals. Registration is required as space is limited.


Saturday, October 28 - Spooky Night Out

  • Register beginning October 1 via email
  • When: 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Ages: 8 years & over with an adult
  • Where: Zion Nature Center

This program isn’t for the faint of heart. Join us for a spooky, eerie hike through the woods, where you might see creatures from beyond your imagination. Then, gather around our crackling campfire for some Halloween treats. Don’t forget to bring a scary story or two to share. Registration is required as space is limited. See you at the Zion Nature Center…if you dare!
