Saturday, September 14 - The Nature of Teaching

Explore Purdue Extension’s The Nature of Teaching curriculum, which includes formal standards-based lessons and informal activity-based lessons around nature and natural resources.  The curricula include three signature programs: Wildlife, Health and Wellness, and Food Waste.  Workshop participants will not only learn about The Nature of Teaching, but act out several of the activities, network and collaborate with other educators, and walk away with a folder of resources to use in their programs. Friday, September 27 - Mommy & Me: Fish

Give your toddler a fun and interactive introduction to nature in our Mommy & Me classes! Each month we will focus on a different topic and will feature live animal encounters, stories, crafts and nature exploration.

Friday, September 27 - Autumn Campfire

  • When: 7 – 8 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street

Autumn is here! Explore how nature is preparing for the changing season with an evening hike through Zion Nature Sanctuary. We’ll end the evening roasting marshmallows at the Nature Center Campfire.

Saturday, September 28 - Monarch Migration

Monarch butterflies are celebrated for their miraculous 2,000 mile journey to Mexico each year. Drop in at Elm Street Green to learn more about this incredible small but mighty insect. Do you have what it takes to complete a monarch migration? Insect nets will be available to explore the meadow.
