Saturday, June 1 - National Trails Day Hike

  • When: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Where: Starkey Nature Park, 667 Sugarbush Drive

Join us in celebrating our community’s trail system on National Trails Day. American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day is a nationwide celebration of our country’s 200,000+ miles of trails. Trails allow us to keep in touch with the natural world while exercising and relieving stress.

Saturday, June 8 - Zionsville Nature Play Day – Campfire and S’mores

Enjoy an evening hike through the Zion Nature Sanctuary as we search for nocturnal sights and sounds. We will end the evening roasting marshmallows and enjoying gooey s’mores around the campfire.

Sunday, June 9 - Zionsville Nature Play Day - Teddy Bear Picnic

  • Registration required
  • When: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Where: Lincoln Park, 41 S. 2nd Street (will move to Zion Nature Center if rain)

Grab your favorite stuffed animal friend and your lunch and join us for a picnic on the Lincoln Park lawn. After lunch we’re going on a bear hunt!

Sunday, June 9 - Zionsville Nature Play Days – Family Dog Walk

  • When: 3 – 4 p.m.
  • Where: Turkeyfoot Nature Park, 4795 Turkey Foot Rd.

Grab your favorite furry family member and join us on a group dog walk. We’ll explore the sights and sounds along Eagle Creek. The trail is stroller accessible.

Monday, June 10 - Zionsville Nature Play Days – Squirt Gun Painting

  • When: 10 - 11 a.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street

Help us create nature masterpieces by painting with….SQUIRT GUNS! We recommend you wear clothing that can get stained. Our final artwork will hang in the Zion Nature Center until the end of the month.

Monday, June 10 - Zionsville Nature Play Days – Bug Safari

  • When: 1 – 2 p.m.
  • Where: Elm Street Green, 165 N. Elm Street

Bring your bug net, or borrow one of ours. We’re going on a safari in our backyard. Join us as we search high and low for six and eight-legged creatures.

Tuesday, June 11 - Zionsville Nature Play Days – Freddy the Fish

Join the Boone County Solid Waste Management District and Freddy the Fish as we explore water pollution at its effects on our environment as we follow Freddy downstream.

Tuesday, June 11 - Zionsville Nature Play Days – Creekstomp

  • Registration required
  • When: 1 – 3 p.m.
  • Where: Creekside Nature Park, 11001 E. Sycamore Street
  • Ages: 4 years and up with adult

Join us as we explore Eagle Creek. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet. Nets and buckets are provided.

Friday, June 14 - Zionsville Nature Play Days – Wetland Explorers

  • When: 1 - 3 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street

Join the Zion Nature Center staff as we explore what flies, crawls and hops in the wetland. Wear clothing that can get muddy and wet. Nets and buckets are provided.

Saturday, June 15 - Zionsville Nature Play Days – Nature Faces

Join the Nature Center staff on a nature hike through the park. We’ll collect items along the way. Then let your imagination soar as you create your unique nature portrait.

  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street

Grab your clue sheet in the Zion Nature Center and solve the riddles to find the letterboxes hidden on our trail. Each letterbox contains a stamp and ink pad to prove you found it. Find all the letterboxes and claim a prize.

  • Register beginning June 1
  • When: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street
  • Ages: 1 – 3 years with an adult

In celebration of Father’s Day, our popular Mommy & Me program is all about dad this month! With dad by our side, we’ll discover who lives in our backyard and explore with our senses.

Explore the fascinating life of a monarch butterfly. Discover how you can help scientists collect data as part of the Monarch Larva Monitoring Project. We will learn how to identify monarch eggs, caterpillars and milkweed. Learn what it takes to set up a Monarch habitat in your backyard.
